It has been an exciting and busy fall semester, with Kessler Scholar campus partners meeting monthly to support program planning and refinement. As the semester draws to a close, we want to remind you of all the great resources available in the Knowledge Hub to support your ongoing work with the Kessler Scholars Program.
To review meeting materials from our All-Campus Partner and Working Group meetings, check out the Campus Partner Meetings folder. The slide deck from our most recent December working team meetings can be found here, along with links to an example syllabus from Georgetown’s Mastering the Hidden Curriculum class and example program calendars from the University of Michigan and Queens College.
We have added the Kessler Scholars Program Manual and updated Brand and Editorial Style Guide to the Knowledge Hub for your reference. In the Program Resources folder, you also will find resources related to hiring and onboarding new Kessler Scholars staff. We hope these resources are helpful as you develop and refine Kessler Scholars Program materials.
Remember to check out the Literature folder in the Knowledge Hub for research articles and briefs related to first-generation college students. We recently added several research articles on first-gen students, including this one by Dr. Theresa Conefrey that explores high-impact practices for first-gen students and this one by Dr. Rosie Perez and colleagues on teaching low-income students to “perform professionalism.” There are three new NASPA Resource Guides also in the Knowledge Hub, including one that provides an overview of best practices for supporting first-gen rural students.
Finally, you can find all of our upcoming meeting dates on the Collaborative Calendar. We look forward to kicking off the new year with our Lunch and Learn series on Tuesday, January 10th, and our next All-Campus Partner meeting on Thursday, January 19th.
We are grateful for your partnership and thank you for your dedication and commitment to first-generation students on your campus. Wishing you a very happy and restful winter break and happy new year. See you in 2023!
